Topstep payout rules and consistency rule

How Topstep pays you, and the two consistency rules that decide when. Every number here is from Topstep's own help center.

The short version

  • You keep 90% of profits. The minimum payout is $125. Traders who joined the new Topstep dashboard before Jan 12, 2026 keep 100% of their first $10,000.
  • In the Express Funded Account you pick a payout path: Standard needs 5 winning days of $150 or more, and Consistency needs 3 trading days with your best day at or under 40% of profit.
  • Each Express Funded payout is up to 50% of your balance, capped at $2,000 to $6,000 depending on size and path. The cap doubles if you added a Daily Loss Limit when you bought the Combine.
  • In the Trading Combine, your best day must stay at or under 55% of your total profit, or your profit target goes up.
  • Live Funded payouts have no cap, and you can take a payout every day once you have 30 winning days in the Live account.

Express Funded payout paths

When you activate an Express Funded Account (XFA), you choose one of two payout paths. Both pay 90/10.

PathTo request a payoutEach payout
Standard5 winning days of $150+ net P&L (they don't need to be in a row), and net profit since your last payout. Your first payout is exempt from the profit check.50% of balance, up to the cap
Consistency3 trading days with at least 1 trade each, and your largest day at or under 40% of total net profit.50% of balance, up to the cap

A day locks in at 4:00 PM CT. The day you request a payout doesn't count toward the next cycle. After each payout your Maximum Loss Limit moves to $0 for good, and the day count starts again.

Payout caps per request

$8,000 with DLL
150K$5,000
$10,000 with DLL

$12,000 with DLL

The higher caps only apply if you added a Daily Loss Limit (DLL) at checkout when you bought the Trading Combine. Topstep calls this a limited-time offer that started June 2 and hasn't given an end date. Adding a DLL later, when you activate the XFA, doesn't unlock it. Live Funded payouts have no cap.

The two consistency rules

Trading Combine: 55%. Your best day divided by your total profit must be at or under 55%. Go over it and your profit target rises to best day ÷ 0.55. A losing day doesn't reset your best day, and each day locks at 3:10 PM CT. You can pass in as few as 2 days.

SizeProfit targetKeep your best day under
50K$3,000$1,650
100K$6,000$3,300
150K$9,000$4,950

Example from Topstep: on a 50K Combine, an $1,800 best day ÷ 0.55 makes your target $3,273, so you need $3,273 without any day bigger than $1,800. Extra profit made on the same day just raises the best day, so the rest has to come on a later day.

Express Funded, Consistency path: 40%. Your largest day divided by your total net profit must be 40% or less to request a payout, and it isn't rounded. Topstep's example: $3,600 ÷ $9,500 = 37.9%, which qualifies. The count resets after each payout and starts again the trading day after your request.

Live Funded Account

  • 5 winning days of $150+ net P&L per payout cycle (not consecutive).
  • Request up to 50% of your balance, with no dollar cap.
  • Daily payouts unlock after 30 winning days of $150+ in the Live account. You can then request any amount of your unlocked balance once a day (minimum $125). Winning days from the XFA don't count toward the 30.
  • Taking a 100% payout closes the Live account, because the balance reaches the Maximum Loss Limit.

Loss limit and position size

SizeMaximum Loss LimitMax contracts (Combine)
50K$2,0005 (or 50 micros)
100K$3,00010 (or 100 micros)
150K$4,50015 (or 150 micros)

Topstep suggests waiting until your Maximum Loss Limit has reached $0 before you start taking payouts. Micros and minis count 10 to 1 in the Combine and the XFA, but not in the Live account. See how trailing drawdown moves →
