Which prop firms allow overnight holding and swing trading

Swing traders need to know this before they buy: can you hold overnight and through the weekend, or does the firm close you out at a set time? Here is each firm's holding rule in its own words.

The short version

  • 7 firms' holding rules, each read from the firm's own rules page on Nov 6, 2026.
  • Swing trading means holding through the close. Most futures prop firms don't allow it; the CFD firms on this list do, with conditions.
  • Most futures firms want you flat before the close; the firms that allow overnight and weekend holds here are CFD firms.
  • Firms that allow overnight holding come first, then firms that require you to be flat. A sort, not a ranking.

Questions

Which prop firms allow overnight holding?

On our November 6, 2026 check, The5ers allows overnight and weekend positions and FXIFY allows holding over the weekend (except on Instant Funding). Among futures firms, Bulenox, Atlas Funded, Elite Trader Funding, Earn2Trade and TradeDay all require you to be flat by a set time.

Which futures prop firm allows swing trading?

On our check, none of the futures firms on this list: Bulenox, Atlas Funded, Elite Trader Funding, Earn2Trade and TradeDay all set a time by which you must be flat, so a swing trade that runs past the close is a breach. The5ers and FXIFY, which are CFD firms, allow overnight and weekend holds (FXIFY except on Instant Funding). Our rules pages note holding-time rules for the other firms we track.

Can I hold futures overnight at a prop firm?

Not at the futures firms on this list: Bulenox wants you flat by 3:59 PM CT, Atlas closes anything open at 4:45 PM ET, Earn2Trade by 3:50 PM CT, and Elite Trader Funding and TradeDay don't allow positions into the close.

Can I hold through news instead?

That's a separate rule. FundedNext lets you keep CFD trades open through releases (profit in the news window counts 40%), while Lucid and Take Profit Trader want you flat around high-impact releases. See each firm's rules page.

What counts as swing trading at a prop firm?

Holding a position past the firm's flat-by time, usually the futures close, into the next session or over the weekend. Firms that require you to be flat enforce it by closing open positions at the cutoff, and some count it as a rule breach.
