Short readings are ours; the right-hand column is copied from each firm's own help center, FAQ or terms on Nov 6, 2026 (the arrow opens the page we read). "Not stated" means the pages we read don't say. Tap a firm for its full rules page.

How we checked

Each answer is one of the twelve fixed questions we keep on every firm's rules page, read from the firm's own help center on Nov 6, 2026 and re-read every Monday. We don't rank firms here and we don't infer a rule a firm hasn't written down: where the pages we read are silent, the row says so. If a firm changes its rule, its rules page and this table change together.

What is hedging in a prop firm?

Hedging means holding positions that offset each other. The firms' own rules name three forms. Same-account hedging: long and short the same instrument in one account, which Apex describes as "holding long and short at the same time on the same or a correlated instrument". Cross-account hedging: long in one of your accounts and short in another, the form most firms name first (Topstep, TradeDay, Funded Futures Family). Correlated hedging: offsetting a product with a related one, such as long NQ and short MNQ at Alpha Futures, a mini against its micro at Lucid and MyFundedFutures, or two products from the same product group at Tradeify.

Cross-firm hedging, holding opposite positions at two different firms, is covered by the wording at several firms (see below) even where the word "firm" doesn't appear.

Do prop firms allow hedging?

Mostly no. Of the 19 firms in the table, 17 ban hedging in some or all forms, 1 (FTMO) allows opposite positions inside a single account, and 1 (Bulenox) doesn't state a rule on the pages we read. The strictest wording is Apex's "no hedging of any kind" and MyFundedFutures' "prohibits hedging of any kind"; the narrowest is The5ers, which names hedge arbitrage across accounts.

Can you hedge across different prop firms?

No firm in the table says it is allowed, and several word the ban broadly enough to reach accounts outside their own platform. Take Profit Trader bans counter positions "across any accounts you own or control". Earn2Trade bans "trades that hedge or pool risk among unrelated accounts" and coordinated trading across accounts or parties. Atlas bans hedging across your own accounts and "copying/hedging with another person". Funded Futures Family names "another trader's account" and an evaluation against a funded account. Lucid adds that hedging live accounts is banned by Lucid and the CME.

Tradeify, Alpha Futures, FundedNext, FXIFY and TradeDay word the rule as "across your accounts" or "across various accounts" without saying whether a second firm's account counts. Where the page doesn't say, we don't guess: ask the firm's support in writing before you rely on it.

Can you hedge a prop firm account with a personal account?

None of the 19 pages mentions a personal brokerage account by name. The broadest wording, Take Profit Trader's "any accounts you own or control" and Earn2Trade's "unrelated accounts", would cover one. Firms that ban hedging "across your accounts" (Topstep, Tradeify, FundedNext, FXIFY, TradeDay) don't say whether that reaches a personal account. Treat it as not stated and ask the firm.

Are hedging bots and EAs allowed?

Only The5ers mentions automation in its hedging rule: EAs can't hedge-arbitrage either. At every other firm that bans hedging, a bot that opens opposing positions breaks the same rule as a person would, and Apex, Tradeify and TradeDay apply their penalties to every account involved. Whether bots are allowed at all is a separate rule; each firm's answer is under "Bots and automation" on its rules page.

Which prop firms allow hedging?

From the table: FTMO allows opposite positions within a single account (CFD), while forbidding them across accounts for manipulation. Bulenox doesn't state a rule. Every other firm, Topstep, Apex, Lucid, Tradeify, Take Profit Trader, Alpha Futures, Atlas, Earn2Trade, Elite Trader Funding, Funded Futures Family, FundedNext Futures, FundedNext, FXIFY, MyFundedFutures, Purdia, The5ers and TradeDay, bans it in the form its row describes.

Questions

Which prop firms allow hedging?

Of the 19 firms whose rules pages we keep, only FTMO allows opposite positions within a single account; it still forbids hedging across accounts to manipulate results. The other 17 firms that state a rule ban hedging, and Bulenox doesn't say on the pages we read.

Can I hedge across two prop firm accounts?

No at every firm that states a rule. Topstep, Lucid, Tradeify, Take Profit Trader, Alpha Futures, Atlas, Earn2Trade, Elite Trader Funding, Funded Futures Family, FundedNext, FXIFY, MyFundedFutures, Purdia, The5ers and TradeDay all name opposite positions across your own accounts as a violation, and Apex bans hedging of any kind.

Does mini against micro count as hedging?

Yes at the firms that mention it: Lucid, Alpha Futures (long NQ, short MNQ), Funded Futures Family and MyFundedFutures all treat a mini against its micro as a hedge. Tradeify bans opposing positions on any two products in the same product group.

What happens if I hedge by accident?

It depends on the firm. Topstep gives a timed warning the first time, then liquidates hedges on sight. Tradeify puts every account involved into violation status and forfeits the period's profits. Lucid removes intraday payout eligibility. TradeDay offboards offenders and forfeits profits.
