KYC at 19 firms, in each firm's own words
| Firm | When | What the firm says |
|---|---|---|
| Alpha Futures | Before a Qualified account or any payout | Yes, ID verification through Veriff (Dashboard > Profile > KYC). Required before a Qualified account is issued or any payout; can be done any time, even before passing. ↗ |
| Apex | Owner verified; ID for international payouts | Apex verifies the account owner and can require audits or extra verification at any time. Setting up an international payout method needs a government-issued ID or passport. ↗ |
| Atlas Funded | Before the first payout | Yes, once, through Veriff (government photo ID, selfie/liveness, sanctions and PEP screening, country of residence). Not needed to buy or trade; required before the first payout is paid. ↗ |
| Earn2Trade | At onboarding with the partner firm | Not detailed on pages checked; after passing and getting a funding offer you complete onboarding with the live partner firm. ↗ |
| Elite Trader Funding | Required; stage not stated | Yes, identity verification through SumSub (ID documents, AI and biometric checks). Exact stage not stated on the KYC page. ↗ |
| FTMO | After the trading objectives (Instant: first Reward) | Yes, 'FTMO Identity' (KYC/KYB). On 1-Step and 2-Step Challenges it opens after you meet the Trading Objectives; on the Instant Account it's done when you request your first Reward. ↗ |
| Funded Futures Family | At payout, through Rise | Payouts go through Rise (Riseworks) and may require identity verification (KYC); business payouts need KYB instead. ↗ |
| FundedNext | After passing, within 30 days | Yes: a government-issued ID in the Verification Center after you pass the challenge (about 48 hours). Must be done within 30 days of passing, and before your first withdrawal. ↗ |
| FundedNext Futures | Before the first withdrawal | Yes: photo ID plus live selfie, required before your first Performance Reward withdrawal (not before trading). Usually takes 24-48 hours. ↗ |
| FXIFY | Two checks: FXIFY and Rise | Yes, two KYC checks: one with FXIFY and one with payment provider Rise. Failing either means no funded account and no payouts. ↗ |
| MFFU | Before trading a sim-funded account | Yes, mandatory before you begin trading a sim-funded account (Personal Settings > KYC). Once per person; one verified profile per individual. Payouts also need a Riseworks account. ↗ |
| Purdia Capital | May be required; stage not stated | Identity verification, payment verification, proof of ownership of payment methods or other compliance documents may be required. ↗ |
| Take Profit Trader | At registration | Yes, at registration. Every new registrant completes KYC before becoming a fully verified customer; most checks clear in minutes, with a 24/5 team for manual reviews. ↗ |
| The5ers | After passing a challenge | Yes, after you pass a challenge: name, address, date of birth, passport or national ID, proof of address, and any tax documents required locally. ↗ |
| Topstep | Everyone, before Express Funded activation | Yes. Topstep runs identity verification (IDV) on every trader and can ask you to re-verify at any time. Express Funded activation happens after verification. ↗ |
| TradeDay | At payout, through Riseworks | Yes, through payout provider Riseworks: onboard with the same name and email TradeDay has on file; Riseworks emails you once KYC clears. ↗ |
| Tradeify | Before first payout (before funding in 10 countries) | Yes, before your first payout: Tradeify's own Sumsub check plus a separate Rise payout verification. Residents of Brazil, China, Italy, Mexico, Romania, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand and the UAE must verify before getting a funded account, and crypto purchases need it at checkout. ↗ |
| Bulenox | Not stated | Not stated on the pages we read. |
| Lucid | Not stated | Not stated on the pages we read. |
Short readings are ours; the right-hand column is copied from each firm's own help center, FAQ or terms on Nov 6, 2026 (the arrow opens the page we read). "Not stated" means the pages we read don't say. Tap a firm for its full rules page.
How we checked
Each answer is one of the twelve fixed questions we keep on every firm's rules page, read from the firm's own help center on Nov 6, 2026 and re-read every Monday. We don't rank firms here and we don't infer a rule a firm hasn't written down: where the pages we read are silent, the row says so. If a firm changes its rule, its rules page and this table change together.
Do prop firms require KYC?
Yes at every firm that states a rule: 17 of the 19 say identity is verified at some stage. Lucid and Bulenox don't say on the pages we read, and Earn2Trade points to onboarding with its partner firm after a funding offer rather than its own check. No firm in the table says it skips verification.
When does KYC happen: at sign-up, before funding, or before the first payout?
At sign-up: Take Profit Trader verifies every registrant before they become a fully verified customer. Before you trade a funded account: MyFundedFutures requires it before you begin trading a sim-funded account, and Topstep verifies every trader before Express Funded activation. After passing: FTMO opens FTMO Identity once you meet the trading objectives (at the first Reward on the Instant Account), FundedNext asks within 30 days of passing, The5ers after a challenge, and Alpha Futures before a Qualified account is issued or any payout. Before the first payout: Atlas, Tradeify (earlier for residents of ten countries) and FundedNext Futures. Through the payout provider: Funded Futures Family, TradeDay and FXIFY route it through Rise or Riseworks, FXIFY and Tradeify on top of their own check.
What documents do you need for prop firm KYC?
From the firms' own pages: a government photo ID is the common item (Atlas, FundedNext, FundedNext Futures, Elite Trader Funding, Apex for international payout methods, The5ers' passport or national ID). Several add a live selfie or liveness check (Atlas, FundedNext Futures, Elite's biometric check). The5ers also asks for name, address, date of birth, proof of address and any tax documents required locally; Atlas screens for sanctions and politically exposed persons and records country of residence; Purdia may ask for payment verification and proof that you own the payment method. Payout providers such as Rise run their own document check.
Are there prop firms with no KYC?
Not among these 19. Two firms (Lucid and Bulenox) don't state when or how they verify, which is not the same as not verifying, and every firm that does state it requires verification before a payout at the latest. A firm that pays you has to know who it is paying; treat any "no KYC" claim elsewhere with that in mind.
What happens if KYC fails or your country is restricted?
FXIFY says it plainly: failing either of its two checks means no funded account and no payouts. Tradeify notes that a Live Account denied at verification can't return to the simulated stage. Topstep can ask you to re-verify at any time, and Apex can require audits or extra verification at any stage. If the problem is your country rather than your documents, the firm's restricted-country list applies; our country page shows every firm's list and which firms accept citizens of restricted countries who live elsewhere.
Questions
Do prop firms require KYC before you can trade?
Rarely. Take Profit Trader verifies every registrant at sign-up and MyFundedFutures requires KYC before you begin trading a sim-funded account. Atlas and FundedNext Futures say it is not needed to buy or trade; the check comes before the first payout.
Which prop firms do KYC before the first payout?
Atlas, Tradeify, FundedNext Futures, FundedNext (within 30 days of passing), Alpha Futures (before a Qualified account or any payout), FTMO (after the trading objectives, or at the first Reward on the Instant Account) and The5ers (after passing). Funded Futures Family and TradeDay run the check through the payout provider Rise or Riseworks.
Do payout providers run their own identity check?
Yes at several firms. Tradeify requires its own Sumsub check plus a separate Rise payout verification, FXIFY runs one check with FXIFY and one with Rise, and MyFundedFutures, Funded Futures Family and TradeDay pay through Riseworks, which has its own KYC.
Which firms don't say when KYC happens?
Lucid and Bulenox don't state it on the pages we read. Elite Trader Funding and Purdia say verification is required but not at which stage, and Earn2Trade points to onboarding with its partner firm after a funding offer.
