How long does it take to pass a prop firm evaluation?

The fastest legal answer is one day at a handful of firms and two to five days at most others. The realistic answer depends on your daily profit and the consistency rule. Here are both, firm by firm, from the rules pages.

The short version

  • One-day passes exist: Apex, Bulenox, MyFundedFutures Builder, Alpha Futures Zero, Lucid Pro with the consistency option off, TradeDay Fast Pass and FTMO 1-Step have no minimum days.
  • Most futures evaluations need 2 to 5 days, set either by a stated minimum or by a consistency rule (Topstep 55%, Take Profit Trader 50%, Tradeify 40%).
  • The math on a $3,000 target: 5 days at $600 a day, 10 at $300, 20 at $150, with no losing days. Losing days push every number out.
  • Time limits cost money: Apex gives 30 days per evaluation, Topstep bills monthly, most other firms charge once with no clock.
  • The firms that publish pass rates say about one evaluation in six passes at all, so "how long" is usually "how many attempts".

Minimum days and targets are quoted from each firm's own rules on the date shown on that firm's rules page. The day-count examples are arithmetic, not a forecast.

From each firm's rules page, which lists the date we read it. "None" means the firm says you can pass in one day. A consistency rule sets a minimum indirectly: under a 50% rule no day can be half the target or more, so a pass needs at least three days; under 55% at least two; under 40% at least three.

The realistic math

A profit target divided by your average daily profit is the number of winning days you need. On a $3,000 target, which is the 50K figure at Topstep, Apex, Take Profit Trader, Tradeify, Lucid, MyFundedFutures, Bulenox and Purdia:

Average profit on a trading dayDays to $3,000Passes a 40% rule?Passes a 55% rule?
$15020Yes, every day is 5% of the targetYes
$30010YesYes
$6005Yes, 20% eachYes
$1,0003Yes, 33% eachYes
$1,5002No: one day is 50% of the profitYes, 50% is under 55%
$3,0001NoNo

Arithmetic only, with no losing days. One losing day of $300 adds a $300 winning day to the count, and a consistency rule is measured against total net profit, so a big day followed by losses can push you over the line later.

Two things make the real number bigger. Drawdown: a $2,000 maximum loss on a 50K means a few bad days end the attempt before the day count matters, which is why the firms' own pass rates are about one in six. And the consistency rule: under Topstep's 55% target, an $1,800 best day raises your target to $3,273 (Topstep's own example), so a fast start can cost you an extra day. Our consistency calculator does that sum for every firm's rule, and the Drawdown Lab shows how each drawdown type moves.

Time limits, and what the clock costs

  • Apex: 30 days to hit the target on an EOD evaluation, one-time fee, no resets on the new products. Miss the window and you buy again.
  • Topstep: the Trading Combine is a monthly subscription ($49, $99 or $199 a month for 50K, 100K, 150K on the Standard Path), so a slow pass is a second month's fee. There is no deadline inside the subscription.
  • Tradeify, Lucid, MyFundedFutures, Bulenox, Take Profit Trader (on the one-time offers), Alpha Futures: one-time fees with no time limit on the pages we read, so a slow pass costs nothing extra unless you breach and reset.

Prices and reset fees change often; today's numbers are on each firm's rules page and on every live code.

What legitimately shortens it

  • Plans with no minimum days: Apex, Bulenox, MyFundedFutures Builder, Alpha Futures Zero, TradeDay Fast Pass, Lucid Pro with the consistency option off, FTMO 1-Step.
  • Paid add-ons that relax the rule: Tradeify and Lucid sell a 50% consistency option that cuts the minimum from three days to two; Elite Trader Funding sells One Day to Pass; FundedNext sells No Minimum Trading Days on some 2-Step sizes.
  • Choosing the plan whose rule fits your style: a trader who makes a few big days wants a 55% rule or none; a trader with many small days is fine under 40%.

None of this changes the drawdown, which ends more attempts than the calendar does. Education, not financial advice.

After you pass: the payout clock starts again

Passing starts a second count. Most funded accounts need winning days before the first payout: five days of $150 or more at Topstep and Tradeify Flex, five trading days at Apex, three at Take Profit Trader's Test but none in PRO, ten at Bulenox Master accounts. Take Profit Trader and Lucid let you withdraw from day one once you're above a buffer. The True Cost Index adds those days to the price of getting there, and the daily payout list shows who pays without a waiting period.

Questions

Can you pass a prop firm evaluation in one day?

At some firms, yes. Apex, Bulenox, MyFundedFutures Builder, Alpha Futures Zero, TradeDay Fast Pass and FTMO 1-Step state no minimum days, and Lucid says "pass in as little as one day" on Pro. Firms with a consistency rule can't be passed in a day: Topstep needs at least two, Take Profit Trader and Tradeify at least three.

How long does it take to pass Topstep?

As few as two days, per Topstep's help center, as long as no single day is 55% or more of your profit target. On a 50K Combine that means two days each under $1,650 adding up to $3,000. Most people take longer: Topstep says 16.8% of Combines started in 2025 were passed.

Is there a time limit to pass a prop firm challenge?

At Apex, 30 days on an EOD evaluation. Topstep has no deadline but bills monthly. Tradeify, Lucid, MyFundedFutures, Bulenox and Alpha Futures charge once with no time limit on the pages we read.

What is the fastest prop firm to pass?

By minimum days, the one-day firms: Apex, Bulenox, MyFundedFutures Builder and Alpha Futures Zero on futures. Speed in practice depends on your daily profit and on staying inside the drawdown; the firms' own pass rates are about one evaluation in six.

How many days do you need for a 40% consistency rule?

At least three. If no day can be 40% or more of your net profit, the best you can do is three days of just under a third each. Tradeify's 50% add-on cuts that to two days.
